AWAY MEET Greensprings Gators @ Stonehouse Splash 6/16
Happy Saturday!
The Gators will face off with Stonehouse Splash for our first meet of the season this Monday the 16th.
This is our friendship meet. What is that, you ask? This meet will not be a scored meet in terms of team points. You will STILL get your swimmer’s times via Swimtopia (don’t forget to download the app).
Meet Information:
Address: 9701 Mill Pond Run, Toano, VA 23168
Parking: Please fill the pool parking lot first. Overflow parking will be at the Stonehouse Golf Club (9700 Mill Pond Run) located across the street from our clubhouse. For your safety, please DO NOT use the golf cart tunnel when walking from overflow parking to the pool. You are welcome to drop swimmers/gear at the pool before proceeding to overflow parking.
Concessions: Stonehouse will have a traditional concession stand with hot dogs, nachos, drinks, chips, fruit and veggie options, etc. CASH ONLY.
Team Set Up/What to Bring: Please set up on the far (left) side of the pool, upon entering the pool gate. Bring chairs and bug spray...the pool can get buggy!
Athlete Arrival: 5PM
Weather: We make EVERY effort to have swim meets on the scheduled date. It’s a pain in the you know what to reschedule. That said, if there are weather concerns YOU WILL KNOW AS SOON AS WE KNOW VIA EMAIL AND FACEBOOK. The meet officials and head coaches make these decisions, and they are often “game time” decisions. So, if you haven’t heard from us – plan as if the meet is still on.
Volunteers: If you are signed up to volunteer for this meet, you will need to check in with our Volunteer Coordinator, Brittany Ainsley, at the meet. Please actively seek her out so she does not have to search out volunteers. She will be on the pool deck near the Gator’s coach table prior to the start of the meet.
If you are volunteering on Monday and have any questions, please text Brittany Ainsley: 757-377-2562.
Officials – Listen for the call for the officials meeting prior to the meet.
Timers & Sweeps Judges – Listen for the call for the timer meeting, typically about 20 minutes before the meet start time (6PM).
First Session Clerk of Course – PLEASE be ready by 5:50 as swimmers will begin lining up for the first event
Second Session Volunteers – Be ready to take over and switch out after event 30.
Scorers/Ribbons - We aren't sure yet where the setup for scoring and ribbons will be, but Brittany will point you in the right direction when you check in.
Information for Parents:
Please make sure your swimmer’s event/heat/lane information is written on their hand in permanent marker. If this is your first meet and you’re not sure what that means—no worries! Just find a coach on deck, and they’ll be happy to help. Coaches may also be able to assist with this during Monday morning practice.
The meet announcer will call age groups for events - when you hear your swimmer's event/age group called, send them to clerk of course. Please be listening for this, especially if you have a little swimmer. Once your swimmer is at clerk of course, the volunteers will make sure they stay lined up correctly. It is VERY important that every swimmer has their event information written on their hand. Our swimmers are cute and they smile so nicely, but they don’t always know what they are swimming or even sometime what their name is. Did I mention they are cute? Swimmers should come to clerk of course with their Gator caps on and goggles in hand (or already on their head).
Ribbons: Ribbons are typically available the day after the meet at practice on the pool deck. We have NEW ribbon boxes this year (thank you, Lora Long). Ribbons are organized by family last name. Please pay attention when getting ribbons out of the box so you don’t accidentally take another swimmer’s ribbons. The ribbon box will be out all week during practice so swimmers can collect their ribbons. EVERYONE gets a ribbon for every event they swim unless they disqualify.
If you have ANY questions, please email at: [email protected] or post on the Facebook page.
See you on deck and GO GATORS!
